Content strategist based in Seattle, guiding users and organizations on digital journeys.
Intro
Content strategy is the art and discipline of creating something bigger than the sum of its parts. It’s taking individual pieces of creative and molding them into a story, multiple stories into user journeys, user journeys into an experience, and an experience into a brand. How do I do that? Work
I have worked in content management, production, creative development, and strategy for going on ten years. This has included everything from writing and scheduling blog and social posts to managing entire editorial calendars, developing executive communication strategies, white paper style guides, and form fill landing pages. Over time, I began to see the forest for the trees and discern how all these disparate parts create a whole. That is, in a nutshell, content strategy. My work is focused on taking the many voices, assets, goals, strategies, and audiences within an organization and marrying them together into a singular organism whose sole purpose is to delight and nurture.
My CV
My professional career began as a writer with a bachelor’s degree in print journalism and a master’s degree in fine art for creative writing. As a freelance reporter, I learned the basics of economical communication - otherwise known as UX writing. As a creative writer, I developed the ability to inject voice and tone and toggle between them depending on audiences and authorship. My first job in marketing was for a nonprofit where I wrote, scheduled, designed, and published blog posts and articles. My career took off after that when I worked for a real estate startup in Seattle managing their entire editorial calendar, which included social media, blogs, public relations, news articles, and executive communications. At my most recent company, I took that experience and expanded it to lead the content strategy for the entire organization, taking on the organic marketing operation and all digital touchpoints for every audience vertical and internal stakeholder, developing campaigns for multiple programs and products that included all aspects of digital marketing: paid ads, organic social, thought leadership, and more.
